It all begun when David set up his own promotions company in1994 called Colours, based in the Hacienda whilst completing his Management Sciences degree at the University for Manchester. He then went onto being the UK tour Manager at Pacha, Ibiza and international events co-ordinater for Ministry of Sound.
In 1999 he purchased Tribal Gathering and started to set up other ventures right across Europe and further afield. In 2000 he re-opened the legendary and internationally famous Sankeys Soap nightclub and during that time, re-igniting the ailing world famous Manchester clubbing community. Between 2000-2003 Sankeys Soap wins City Life Club of the Year, Manchester Evening News Club of the Year and Mixmag best UK club of the year.
In 2003 David organized Britain’s first legal warehouse party for over 12 years for 12,000 people in Manchester. Following this event, Mixmag awarded Tribal Gathering as the best event of 2003 and the following year compiled a list of the best 50 events of all time.
In 2006, David completely strips Sankeys Soap and redesigns it into one of the most futuristic technologically advanced venues in the world. He drops the word ‘Soap’ and just refers to it as Sankeys. He brings back good friend Andrew Spiro (founder of Sankeys Soap) as a partner in the new Sankeys. ‘We are building the best club in the Universe, failure is not an option’ And failure It wasn’t, In 2007, David Vincent, Andrew Spiro and Sankeys Soap were recognised by MOSI for their work and cultural significance to the City alongside the Hacienda and Tony Wilson. Sankeys is shortly voted best club in the world by readers of DJ Magazine.
In 2011, David Vincent returns to Ibiza and opens the 2nd Sankeys, which is partly recognized over the season for the Monza parties, with lineups featuring Ricardo Villalobos, Paco Osuna and Raresh with another up and coming DJ & Producer, Enzo Siragusa, hosting his popular London party Fuse.
In 2012, Sankeys Ibiza becomes the hottest new forward thinking electronic music venue on the island. Solomun’s DIYnamic and Steve Lawler’s VIVa labels both have nights there, Diynamic Neon Nights and VIVa Warriors and many of the Sankeys residents, such as Darius Syrossian, are now the most talked about artists on the scene.
In 2013 we saw the likes of Hypercolour, Diynamic Neon Nights, Fuse, dirtybird, Flying Circus, Carnival and VIVa Warriors all have successful seasons. The club hosts 124 events in total with another 24 hour party to close, which actually ends up being 30 hours, another first for the island in recent club history. It is by now the fastest growing club of the summer and goes up 120%.
2014 looks set to be another successful year for Sankeys Ibiza with a weekly program of Blasé Boys Club, FUSE, Tribal Sessions, CUFF, Flying Circus, Magna Carta and VIVa Warriors setting the pace for a very busy summer at Sankeys Ibiza.
In the Autumn of 2013, we saw the arrival of Sankeys NYC and at the beginning of this year, London saw the arrival of the pop up Sankeys at Studio 338 in Greenwich with David planning more club openings in 2014, this looks set to be a great year for David Vincent and the Sankeys team.
