‘This Is A Recording’ aka Jason Slater and Woods first crossed paths DJing in grotty hovels in East London, back in 2006. They were both residents at a club night called OCD, which took place at The Rhythm Factory for 7 years and provided a platform for live electronic acts and DJs such as 20/20 Soundsystem, The Bays, Jimpster, Hervé, Switch and Spiritcatcher amongst many others.
The pair began making music together by working on remixes for alternative up and coming bands ranging from indie dance to electro pop. From working within these diverse styles they developed and homed in on there own sound fusing space-rock guitar riffs with electronic influences from genres such as disco and balearic house.
OCD Records was set up by Jason in 2008 as an outlet to release their own productions and there debut release ‘Montesa’ has been described as ‘a low slung, drunken, glitter ball romance’ and received props from some of the most well respected producers in the nu-disco scene.
This led them to being signed to the US disco label, Gazeebo International and TIAR went onto release ‘Southern Neon Lights’ and ‘The Second Sun’ with remixes from the label boss Gazeebo himself. These unique productions are a blend of cosmic and edgy vibes, dripping with layers of lush guitars, which picked up plays from the likes of Aeroplane and In Flagranti,
The boys are working on more material at present, taking influences from early 90s post-indie bands through to the latest synthwave/chillwave artists with the aim of producing beautiful music that is just fast enough to dance to, but also slow enough to get high to. Coming soon to a technicolour stratosphere near you. Just keep looking up….
